Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (RBGV) is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the exclusive operation of Gardens House and its surrounding lawns for functions and events. This opportunity is within one of Melbourne's iconic settings, with strong existing demand and potential for commercial growth. The base license includes exclusive operation of Gardens House and lawns, with the possibility of installing one temporary marquee structure for a combined period of nine weeks per year. RBGV is also progressing approvals for a reversible, semi-permanent marquee solution. Respondents are requested to specify their capacity and willingness to invest capital in the design, installation, and maintenance of such a structure. Site inspections are mandatory and will be offered on specific dates in May 2026. Submissions must be made via the Buying for Victoria portal by 5:00 PM on 31 May 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their response during the week commencing 15 June 2026. Submissions will be assessed against experience, capability, concept vision, commercial outcomes, revenue potential, financial sustainability, operations feasibility, staffing, delivery, customer experience, quality of offering, and market appeal.
Respondents must provide company information, details of experience and capability in premium catering, events, and hospitality operations, a concept and vision for maximizing the Gardens House opportunity, details of their food and beverage offering, marketing and sales strategy, and operational plans including staff capability and training.
Site inspections are mandatory and will be offered on Monday 11 May and Tuesday 12 May 2026 at various times. Registration closes on 8 May 2026.
