Queensland Rail is seeking a contractor for slope stabilisation and rockfall mitigation works along the Cairns to Kuranda rail corridor. The project involves rock slope stabilisation, rockfall protection systems, controlled rock breaking, installation of rock bolts, anchors, draped meshes, and catch fences, as well as vegetation management. Works will be conducted under live rail conditions in a steep, remote, and World Heritage listed environment, requiring specialist rope access techniques. Construction is planned to commence from April 2027. A mandatory tender site visit is scheduled for April 7-10, 2026. Tenders must be submitted electronically via the Ariba Sourcing System by April 20, 2026. The contract will be a major works contract.
The tender closing time is 11:00 am AEST on 20 April 2026. Construction is planned to commence from April 2027.
The basis for payment is a lump sum.
Queensland Rail will evaluate tenders based on overall value for money, considering factors such as costs, local supply chain involvement, social objectives, tender price, proposed program and methodology, operational capability, proposed enhancements, compliance with tender documents, procurement assurance model compliance, experience, product samples, financial capability, performance guarantee, reference checks, safety systems, quality assurance systems, and environmental management systems.
Tenderers must be registered with SAP Ariba and email the contact officer to be invited to participate. They must also comply with licensing and membership requirements if applicable, and provide details of any proposed subcontractors. Tenderers must also warrant their compliance with the Queensland Government Supplier Code of Conduct.
A mandatory tender site visit will be conducted on Tuesday 7 April, Wednesday 8 April, Thursday 9 April, or Friday 10 April, commencing at 9:45 am AEST from Redlynch Queensland Rail Depot. Attendance is limited to one representative per tender submission, and only by the primary tendering entity.
