Ballina Shire Council is seeking experienced service providers for its Community Sharps Collection Program. The contract is for five years with two optional one-year extensions, commencing July 1, 2026. Services include collection, exchange, transport, treatment, and disposal of domestic sharps waste from participating pharmacies. Key responsibilities involve supplying and exchanging bins, safe handling and transport of waste, compliance with regulations (ADG Code, EPA guidelines), and reporting. Performance will be monitored against KPIs. Submissions must be electronic via VendorPanel by June 11, 2026.
The services shall commence on 1 July 2026. The term will be five years, with two optional one-year extensions.
Invoices are to be submitted on a monthly basis and must include a weighbridge report and/or disposal certificate. Payment is due within 30 days after satisfactory completion of services and receipt of a correctly rendered invoice.
The service provider warrants that all services and works undertaken by it are reasonably suitable in all respects for the purposes required by this agreement.
Tenders will be evaluated based on mandatory criteria (insurance, management systems) and weighted criteria including pricing structure (45%), experience and capability (20%), methodology and delivery plan (20%), and social and community (15%).
Respondents must be suitably experienced and qualified service providers, demonstrating a commitment and capacity to comply with the NSW WHS Act **** and WHS Regulation 2017. They must also maintain all required licences, permits, and accreditations.
If the service provider's performance against KPIs is considered inadequate, council reserves the right to terminate the contract by providing three months' written notice.
