The University of Queensland (UQ) is seeking solutions for a standalone power system (SAPS) upgrade at its Heron Island Research Station. The existing SAPS is largely decommissioned, and the station is currently powered by a diesel generator. The project involves designing, installing, and maintaining a new SAPS with high renewable penetration (****) and a minimum design life of **** years. Key objectives include maximizing operational reliability, ensuring continuous power supply (24/7), minimizing fire risk, and delivering the solution within a short timeframe. The process is two-stage, with submissions due by July 17, 2026. Sustainable reuse of existing components is optional. Logistics to the remote island location are challenging.
